Picos maps

This evening I have spent a wee while enhancing my maps. Usually I’m loathe to make marks on maps but I felt it was necessary for this trip. Around the border of the map are dashes representing the edges of each kilometre within the 5 km grid squares. I’ve sat with a red fine-liner, a ruler and a very sharp pencil making marks every kilometre then drawing them in.

I am now able to record much more accurate grid references for checking against GPS. -assuming my information on map datum is correct.

(If anyone knows the map datum for the Miguel Adrados, 1:25000 scale maps of the Picos I’d be glad to hear from you)

Next task: writing out bearing and position sheets for each day, then laminating them. Nerdy fun I’m sure you’ll agree.
